There’s something special about a cloudy day in the studio.

The light is softer. Slower. Quieter.

Instead of bright sun pouring through the windows, the clouds outside create this beautiful, even glow that wraps around everyone in the room. It feels calm, intimate — almost like the world slows down for a little while.

And on this particular afternoon, that quiet light was the perfect backdrop for two soon-to-be parents and the baby girl they’re so excited to meet.

One of the things I love most about studio maternity sessions in Des Moines is how simple and focused they can be. There are no distractions — just the connection between two people and the season of life they’re stepping into.

From the moment they walked into the studio, you could feel the excitement. The anticipation. The love already growing for their daughter.
